Transfer hatch and material airlock for hospital and lab

Hospitals and labs constantly work with zones that must stay separated for hygienic or organisational reasons — a sterile room facing a corridor, a lab facing a waiting area, a pharmacy department facing the rest of the ward. Yet something must constantly be transferred: a sample, a package, a file, medication. A transfer hatch or material airlock makes that transfer possible without the two zones ever coming into direct contact.

For larger or more frequent transfers — samples, packages, boxes — our material airlocks are the suitable solution: a transfer chamber with two mutually interlocked doors, so there is never a direct passage between the two zones. At counters where mainly documents, medication or smaller items are exchanged, for example at a pharmacy department or a registration desk, a transfer drawer is often the simpler, more compact choice.

Our material airlocks come in several models — 100, 105, 106 and 200 — with varying dimensions, and our transfer drawer range includes both pendulum and sliding drawers. Standards

Our material airlocks and transfer drawers are, like the rest of the range, supplied as standard and bespoke, with bullet-resistant versions up to FB7 where the application requires it — see our standards page for a full overview of the EN-1063 classes. For hospitals and labs, the emphasis usually lies less on bullet resistance and more on a practical, hygienic transfer between two separated zones; our engineers are happy to discuss with you which dimensions and layout best fit your space.
