Transfer systems for prisons and justice facilities

Prisons, justice centres and closed psychiatric wards must constantly move material between zones that, for security reasons, stay physically separated: a file to a cell, a case during a visit, medication between a nursing post and a ward. A simple transfer hatch does not always suffice — often what is needed is a full airlock able to handle greater volume, without the two zones ever coming into direct contact.

Our material airlocks are built for exactly that: a transfer chamber with two mutually interlocked doors, so an item can move from one zone to the other without both doors ever being open at the same time. Where a fully integrated post is needed — for example a visitor counter combining sight, voice, document transfer and material transfer in one — our complete systems bundle those functions into a single coordinated construction.

Our material airlocks come in several models — 100, 105, 106 and 200 — with varying dimensions, and our complete systems come in three variants (7120, 7520 and 7553), each built around the same combination of window, drawer and airlock. Wurster has been the Belgian distributor of this range since 1956 and supplies both standard models and bespoke solutions for judicial and penitentiary institutions.

Standards

For high-security applications such as prisons, defence and military buildings, FB7 is in practice the most relevant bullet-resistance class. Our material airlocks (models 100, 105 and 106) are fitted with FB4 as standard; for a counter or window with a higher risk profile on the same site, a heavier class such as FB7 can be discussed. For anyone who also needs to respect fire compartmentation, the complete system 7553 is certified both FB4 bullet-resistant and F90 fire-resistant.
